Facilities Report Europe & Condition Report 2007
The Action Plan for the EU Promotion of Museum Collections' Mobility and Loan Standards, which was developed in 2006 during the Austrian EU Presidency and finalised during Finland's EU Presidency, summarises in six chapters the major issues regarding loan traffic. At a convention in Helsinki in July 2006 international working groups were formed to discussand attend to various issues via e-mail. The current document is the result of the work of Working group 1 on "Loanadministration and loan standards"

Loan for use is a good way for museums to make the most of their collections. However, there are risks in loan for use, especially in case the objects are of great cultural or financial value. The nmv has developed two standard Loan for Use Agreements for its members: One for a Definite Period of Time and one for Long Term Use. Explanatory Notes accompany both Agreements to assist the users. Since museums operate on an international level too, it is in the interest of both national (Dutch) and international museums to be able to work with an international and practical standard Loan for Use Agreement. It is from this perspective that the nmv makes the Agreements available for museums internationally, meanwhile contributing to the international mobility of collections.

This Facilities Report was devised by
the United Kingdom Registrars’ Group (UKRG) in consultation
with the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council.
The form will enable lenders to assess the practicalities
